about me

이름: Caitlin
미국 에서: Wisconsin, USA
한국에서: Gumi, South Korea
직업: English teacher, Samsung Electronics

I'm a planner who's learning to be spontaneous.
After graduating from college, the next step in my plan was to teach English in Korea. So in June 2012, I hopped on an airplane and here I am, in Korea. Why am I here? I'm a Korean adoptee who has always wanted to visit her birth place, experience the culture, travel the world...and yes, get out of small town WI for a little bit.
So this is my experience as a Korean adoptee in Korea, doing the ESL thing for a year...And I'm loving it : )

내 사랑: family, friends, my students, my iPhone, bargain shopping, blogging, being a 사진빨 master, learning Korean, exploring Korea, being a semi-foodie, K-dramas, acoustic indie, COFFEE, Wisconsin sports, sociological stuff, adoption

내꿈: Although I may or may not know what I'm doing after this year, I have one big dream.  To raise Korean adoption awareness and contribute in some way to decrease the stigmatization of adoption in Korea.  So please check out my developing adoption section and share with others : )

Why Say Cheese!  Say Kimchi!: I'm a big blog reader...every other person's blog is "Caitlin in Korean" "John in Korea"  "Mr. So and So in Korea."  Not original at all.  So with this newly revamped blog, I thought I needed a more catchy title. Soo...
I'm from Wisconsin.  Wisconsin is known for it's cheese.  But I'm also Korean and the automatic food association with Korean is kimchi (pickled, fermented food that often takes a lot of training for non-Koreans to enjoy)  What do I also like doing?  Taking pictures!  Nothing professional...but my iPhone battery quickly dies because I'm also snapping photos and using my fun little apps to edit them. Hence why I am a 사진빨 (photoshop) master hehe ; )  So in America, we say "Say Cheese!" when you're taking a photo...and in Korea, they really do tell you to say "Kimchi!!"  So combining my Wisconsin and Korean culture and my love for taking photos here it is, my new blog: Say Cheese!  Say Kimchi!
